I have look this some hours back by my brother his computer and i saw that the first boot order was not the Harddisk! I've just built a new machine (spec below) and it POSTs fine, the problem comes when it tries to boot at which point it displays the above message. I've tried various bootable floppies, disconnected the CD-ROM and hard drive, changed the boot order, checked the floppy cable is in ok - all of it makes no difference

I have a PC that comes up with DISK BOOT FAILURE. INSERT SYSTEM DISK AND PRESS ENTER error message. The usual cause of that is that the hard drive can no longer be seen at boot time. If I restart and select DEL to go into the BIOS, the PC clock is correct with date, time etc, so I assume the BIOS battery is OK.

Perhaps the Master Boot Record may be corrupted? I do not have a current ERD (shame on me, I know).
